Reusable baby & hand wipes
Wipes are super convenient & a lifesaver with a new bub, but the chemicals are not amazing on such a soft & precious bum nor are they good for the environment. These wipes give you the best of both worlds, convenience & sustainability will save you a ton of money!
The witch hazel is soothing for rashes & antiseptic & the floral water adds a nice scent but you can leave this out if you don't have it. Avoid using essential oils when using as baby wipes.
These can be used as general hand wipes as well.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup boiled water
1 tbsp witch hazel
1 tbsp floral water - rose/chamomile
Optional - Add 5 drops of tea tree oil if you are using as hand wipes for children over 2 years
TOOLS
Cup measure
Tablespoon measure
Glass jar with lid or sealable container
Muslin cloth or old soft towel, cut & hemmed
METHOD
Add water, witch hazel & floral water to a bowl.
Add cloths to jar or container & pour mixture over, ensuring they are covered.
Seal container.
USE
Use cloths as needed. Have a bucket on hand for soiled cloths & rinse before washing separately in hot water. For any pesky stains soak in sodium percarbonate before washing.
NOTES
Using reclaimed fabrics such as old towel work well for wipes as the multiple washing has softened them right up.
Hemming tagging them with different coloured thread is a good way to keep any cloths used for bottoms separate from other cloths.
SHELF LIFE
12 months - always use clean hands when applying to avoid contamination
