Healing golden milk
This little powerhouse of a drink is packed full of antioxidant & anti-inflammatory compounds with well-documented health properties for both body & skin.
It's simple to make & stores well. It's a must in my household as the winter cold kicks in & our immune systems, skin & joints need extra nourishment.
Curcumin, the active component in turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for its anti-inflammatory properties to ease joint pain.
Ginger & cinnamon are both immune boosting tonics & wonderful for the skin as they increase blood flow & reduce inflammation. All of the above have been documented as improving overall brain health, digestion, lower blood sugar levels & improve mood!
I like to have this at night to help me unwind, slow down from the day's happenings & get my body into a restful state for sleep.
INGREDIENTS
POWDER
1/2 cup tumeric powder
1 tbsp ground ginger powder
2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cardamom
DRINK INGREDIENTS
1 cup milk or plant milk of your choice
honey or maple syrup to taste
METHOD
To make the powder, mix the powder ingredients together & place in an airtight jar.
To make the drink warm 1 cup of milk on the stove top gently. When warm add 1 teaspoon of the Golden Milk powder & use a whisk to mix through giving it a good whisk to create a little froth. If you have a frother, now is the time to put it to work.
Add honey to taste & drink immediately.
The dry mix will store for up to 6 months before the spices lose their charm.
